Jean-Paul Dudt was born in 1951 and graduated at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris in 1974. He is a senior scientist at LMR-EPFL and has developed finite element programmes, an expert system for the choice of  adequate support in Tunnelling based on the recommendations of AFTES (Association Française des Tunnels et de l’Espace Souterrain) and has co-developed the “Decision Aids in Tunnelling” (DAT) together with the team of Professor Herbert Einstein at MIT.

Andrea Delisio  was born in 1984. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Rome (Universita` degli Studi “La Sapienza”) in 2006 and obtained his  Masters in Science at Politecnico di Torino in 2009. He worked as research assistant at Politecnico di Torino between 2009 and 2010 with the team of Professor Giovanni Barla. Since June 2010 he is a PhD student at LMR – EPFL working on TBM tunnelling in squeezing rock conditions under the supervision of Professor Jian Zhao.
